After seeing an advert in my U3A magazine, I never dreamed we would end up here in this enchanting little house with every home comfort going. It really is a gem and surrounded by the most beautiful village, neighbours and countryside – hills and mountains. A trip to Lucca by train was very easy; 16 euros each way for a 1 hour 20 minutes journey. It was very relaxing and enabled us to walk for miles once we had arrived in Lucca. The city walls offer great views over the city and surrounding countryside.
A night away in La Spezia was a perfect base for visiting Portovenere, Le Grazie and eating at a family run, fine dining restaurant on via Napoli, https://www.osteriadellacorte.com/
– well worth a visit. It was a bit pricey but very welcoming. The following day we spent 16 euros each on an all day, hop-on, hop-off train ticket for the Cinque Terre, enabling us to visit all 5 of the villages. We liked Vernazza the best.
A walk around the village and 3 visits to its “il Borghetto” restaurant made for a great holiday. We also enjoyed the music, books and games which we found in the house.
