Air Travel to Italy

Introduction.

Cheap flights to Italy, especially to Pisa, Milan and Genoa have made Lunigiana and Liguria accessible as never before. The area is served by five airports, Pisa in the south, Milan (Bergamo, Linate and Malpensa airports) in the north, and Genoa in the north-west.

The most popular arrival point is Pisa which receives direct flights from Amsterdam, Barcelona, Brussels, Frankfurt, London (both Stanstead and Gatwick), Madrid, Monaco and Paris. The information given here is for cheap "no frills" airlines and is correct as far as we know but the airline business is fast-moving so do check with the carriers directly by telephone or through their websites; links are given as appropriate. Other airlines flying from your chosen airport are also shown and may be well worth checking.

We have also included details of, and links to, three sites which will search for the cheapest flights for you. To see details of these sites click here. We have organised all other information into two sections; by point of departure and by point of arrival. Click on the links below to go to the appropriate section;-

Cheap Flight Search

Three sites that search a number of other sites for you to find the cheapest flights are listed below:

Website Information
Travel Jungle This is a fast, easy to use site which searches dozens of sites and returns the results in price order on a single page. It also finds fares outside Europe The site rated 27 out of a possible 40 in a Sunday Times comparison test. It was praised for speed and performed well in finding cheapest flights but was criticised for giving inadequate information.
Travel Supermarket Rated highest in the Sunday Times test Travelsupermarket consistently found the cheapest flight in the four tests set. Scoring 29 out of a possible 40 the site was let down only by slow speed in use.
Skyscanner A very good site let down by the fact that it does not cover all airlines. However it does go to the airline and get an up-to-date quote for the flight you are interested in. It also quotes fares for the day each side of your preferred travel date.
